Nach drei Tagen in Phnom Penh habe ich mich langsam an die Hektik der Metropole gewoehnt. Das Touri Pflichtprogramm (Wat Phnom, Silberpagode, Toel-Sleng (S21 Foltergefaengnis) und die Choeung Ek (Killing Fields)) habe ich schon absolviert.

Ueber Weihnachten habe ich 11 Tage bei einer kamboschanischen Familie (Familie mit drei Kindern plus Eltern und Geschwister der Ehefrau) auf dem Lande in der Naehe von Siem Reap verbracht. Wowohl ich nur drei Woerter Khmer sprach und nur eine Person von 16 Familienmitglieder englisch sprach, war es eine tolle Zeit. In diesen 11 Tagen habe ich mehr asiatische Kultur erlebt als in den letzten zwei Monaten. Vielen Dank noch mal an die ganze Familie, Warth (Vater meiner Gastfamilie) der mich betreut und immer fleissig uebersetzt hat und an Tanja (Bayon Garden Guesthouse Siem Reap) welche mir das Homestays vermittelte.

In the last 11 days I lived together with a Cambodia Family (parents with three kids and the wifes family) at the countryside of Siem Reap. I spoke just three words Khmer and one member of 16 spokes english, but it was a great time. I saw more about asia culture than the last two month. Thanks very much to all family members, Warth (Guest father) how supported me and translated so much and to Tanja (Bayon Garden Guesthouse Siem Reap) how organized the homestays for me.

Gestern war ich ein Tag lang mit Dan unterwegs. Er ist Amerikaner und lebt seit 18 Jahren in Kambodscha. Zuerst waren wir auf dem Markt in Siem Reap. Danach sind wir mit seiner Crossmaschine nach Norden gefahren und haben einen Berg bestiegen. Es ist sehr interessant mit einem Barang (Westler) in Kambodscha unterwegs zu sein der fließend Khmer spricht.

Yesterday I was one day out with Dan. He's an american guy how lives since 18 years in Cambodia. First we visited the market in Siem Reap. After that we went to the north with his motorcycle to walk up to a hill. It is very interesting to see a barang in Cambodia how speaks Khmer.
